Discover Lusatia
Here are a few examples
Lusatia lies between Berlin and Dresden, in the very south of Brandenburg and the east of Saxony. Lusatia has had its fair share of change. It’s fascinating to observe how structural change following the mining of lignite is transforming a once-ravaged landscape into new natural paradises.
Today, with over 20 flooded lakes, bike paths, industrial heritage, the Spreewald, and Sorbian culture, Lusatia offers a blend of active vacations, relaxation, and history.
As your Lusatia guide, I’d love to show you around my home region.

Spreewald - Simply magical!
Whether by bike, canoe, or on foot—let’s explore the mystical Spreewald together. Here, the culture of the Sorbs and Wends is alive and well. History and tradition are reflected everywhere. We’ll visit the beautiful towns of Lübben, Lübbenau, and Burg, and stroll through landscapes that simply radiate tranquility. Or we’ll listen to the stories of the ferrymen as they gently guide us across the small streams and rivers, and time seems to stand still. And of course, no visit would be complete without the authentic Spreewald cucumber; we’ll sample potatoes, quark, and flaxseed oil, and top off the day with an original Spreewald yeast pancake.

In Pückler's Footsteps
We park enthusiasts! On this tour—whether it’s a short guided walk through Branitz Park or a full-day excursion through the 830-hectare, cross-border UNESCO World Heritage Site Bad Muskau Park—we’ll follow in the footsteps of the “Green Prince” Hermann von Pückler-Muskau and admire his life’s work. He was an eccentric 19th-century German landscape architect, travel writer, and self-confessed dandy… many stories circulated about him even during his lifetime, and they continue to amaze us to this day.

Coal and Water – A Trip to the Lusatian Lake District
What actually comes after coal?! We’re on the ground covering a unique structural transformation project as a former lignite mining area is being transformed into Europe’s largest man-made water landscape. More than 20 artificial lakes are being created here, connected by canals. A mecca for all water enthusiasts, complete with floating houses and marinas. But it’s also a landscape full of mining relics—such as the F60 visitor mine and the Knappenrode Energy Factory—that provide the backdrop for a special day of vacation.
